The Southern Tier East Regional Planning Development Board (STERPDB) is a special purpose unit of government, created under Articles 5-G and 12-B of the New York State General Municipal Law, as a joint undertaking by its member counties.
Having a small staff and limited budget, STERPDB relies upon the cooperation of its members with input from a range of Local, Regional & State leaders, as well as global experts to provide technical and financial assistance in supporting local initiatives and projects. Partners include the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the Economic Development Administration of the US Department of Commerce (EDA) and the New York State Association of Regional Councils (NYSARC).

"Bon Appetit! Appalachia!" is a food and agricultural Tourism project sponsored by the Federal and State Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).
It's initiative is to highlight the ARC's 13 - State region's most distinctive local food attractions among the following six categories:
· Farmers Markets
From a large pool of “foods, farms and flavors” online nominations, 283 locations were featured on a full color glossy 28” x 20” map insert in the July 2014 issue of “Food Traveler” magazine, and approximately 650 destinations are featured on the ARC’s “Bon Appetit!” online-guide to food farms and flavors tourism.

NYS is represented by 26 mapped destinations and 84 destinations on the web-based portion of the project. As part of its campaign to brand the “Bon Appetit! Appalachia!” web-guide to drive food tourism into the region, the ARC held an event to recognize New York’s agricultural and food tourism destinations.
