The Southern Tier East Regional Planning Development Board (STERPDB) is a special purpose unit of government, created under Articles 5-G and 12-B of the New York State General Municipal Law, as a joint undertaking by its member counties.

Having a small staff and limited budget, STERPDB relies upon the cooperation of its members with input from a range of Local, Regional & State leaders, as well as global experts to provide technical and financial assistance in supporting local initiatives and projects.  Partners include the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the Economic Development Administration of the US Department of Commerce (EDA) and the New York State Association of Regional Councils (NYSARC).

July 26, 2010:  Members of the Appalachian Regional Commission, a partnership of federal, state and local government, toured the region.

The Susquehanna-Chemung Action Plan website is up and running.  Take a look at it and tells us what you think.  This is a joint effort between Southern Tier East and Southern Tier Central Regional Planning Development Boards.  The plan is a sustainable approach to economic and community development that respects the natural functions of watersheds and minimizes flood risks.  This evolving website presents the current Action Plan recommendations and includes links to a wealth of supporting information - state-of-the-watershed data, existing plans, educational resources, relevant programs, success stories, and more.
